The tour begins with transfer from the pousada to the pier, where we cross the Preguiças River by ferry. From there we follow trails — sandbanks or plains — where the vehicle shakes considerably and bumps are inevitable. Upon reaching the Great Lençóis Maranhenses the 4x4 jardineira parks and our adventure begins with the challenge of climbing a very steep dune about 80 m long or ascending a staircase of approximately 144 steps. After this first obstacle the physical effort required decreases significantly. At the top we have a panoramic view of the Lençóis Maranhenses, which is simply breathtaking — a standout feature of this area. You can walk between the lagoons and refresh yourself in their crystalline waters, and the first dune provides an incredible view of the sunset, a true natural spectacle. Afterwards we return to Barreirinhas.
